My daughter and her 5 children live in Fremont. As other reviewers have mentioned, given that it's a small town, the choice of restaurants in town is slim; of the two Chinese restaurants, my daughter and her family prefer Old Chen, hands down.

I, myself, have not been to the one 'downtown', just Old Chen (by the movie theater). True, the selection is small and, at times, the chicken dishes appear to have been sitting quite a while; however, when the food is fresh (or relatively so), it's pretty darned good! And if a particular dish does not appeal to you because it doesn't look fresh, ASK for fresh and they will usually accommodate you.

Also, if there is a dish you particularly like and it is not on the buffet the day you are there (the selection changes from day to day because of there is not enough room on the buffet to have all of the dishes all of the time), if you ask them, they will make it SPECIFICALLY for you and at no additional charge.

All in all, I think they are pretty good. The price is reasonable for it's size; and the staff are extremely friendly/efficient.

Good buffet. Good prices and if you want something special, they will always make it and remember when you come in the next time.

We didn't do the buffet, we got take-out.  I think they offer Thai because the other local chinese place does, but they don't know how to cook it and don't have the right ingredients (they just re-use what they have on hand for the Chinese menu).

They used the red sweet and sour sauce on his Pad Thai (WTH?) and there was no curry in my curry-it was sweet. Worse, when I called them, they said "people like it that way (not matching how it is represented on the menu), everyone knows we make it like that," and similar stuff. I LOVE thai food, practically lived on it while pregnant with my son, and this was not Thai (no peanut sauce, no curry, no lemongrass, kafir lime, or other  Thai flavors at all,

Also, not so hot on Chinese food, either. They put cooked white rice into my sizzling rice soup before packing it. I didn't order Soggy Rice soup for $4, yo.

I originally had this place confused with the one downtown.

For the area, this place is not bad.  Without question, the better of the two chinese buffets in town.

Nice for a quick meal that is within walking distance to the only hotel in town.

I definitely agree with the other reviewer that this place is by far better then the one downtown. Its a good place to stop in and have a quick meal. The food is like any other chinese buffet. Nothing special.
